Part of our ‘Worlds Beneath the Waves’ exhibition at the National Museum of the Royal Navy, the Bathymetric Globe documents the bathymetry and topography of our planet.
WAM Interactive mapped data from the British Oceanographic Data Centre onto a sphere, greatly exaggerating the height axis to demonstrate the changing landscapes of Earth, both above ground and undersea. A bespoke stand allows the 700mm Diameter globe to spin freely, allowing visitors to explore through sight and touch. The route taken by HMS challenger during its groundbreaking three and a half year expedition is also shown as a protruding red line.
